Sweaty palms, shaking hands, that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach: it’s exam day.
Many students are terrified by exams even though they are a regular part of being a college student. There are some techniques for exam taking that work both in real life and in online courses.
First and foremost, make sure you study! Even though many online course tests are open book, you do not want to be scrambling around looking for answers. Often tests are timed to make sure that students at least have an understanding of the information that they are being tested on.
When you begin the exam, answer the questions that you definitely know the answers to first. Then, work your way back through the exam to re-read questions and eliminate choices you know to be incorrect.
Also, make sure you start the exam early enough to give yourself enough time to be able to go through in carefully. Although exams are an inescapable part of college, they don’t have to be the worst part.
Luckily, that awful feeling of test anxiety is easy to avoid by developing effective study habits. Make sure that reading your textbook on each and every class day becomes a priority and you’ll never have to speed read through a book again.
Start reviewing for your exam at least three days in advance; the brain usually has a hard time recalling information if you try to remember it all mere moments before your test.
Finally, make sure you study in a quiet, clean environment where your priority can be studying.
If you follow these techniques, you should be able to pass online exams easily and stress-free.

When I was in middle school my art teacher of all people told me that when he was in college one of the classes he took went over strategies for passing multiple choice tests. As the story goes, most multiple choice tests have predictable answer choices where you can use a method of eliminating choices right off the bat just by how the questions are structured. I was never brave enough to try it the way he said so I don’t know if it works but this seems like much better advice!
